“The Legend Of The Vagabond Queen Of Lagos” was a major winner at this year’s Zuma International Film Festival, earning three awards for its technical excellence.
Directed by The Agbajowo Collective, a group made up of Samuel Okechukwu, Temitope Ogungbamila, Bisola Akinmuyiwa, Elijah Atinkpo, Tina Edukpo, James Tayler, and Mathew Cerf , the film clinched wins for Best Costume, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound.
Shot across Nigeria, South Africa, Germany, and the United States, the 2024 social thriller continues to receive critical acclaim for both its storytelling and production quality.
Announcing the win on April 28 via Instagram, co-director Okechukwu shared photos of the team’s award plaques and expressed gratitude for the recognition.
“I’m really proud of this team, and this is good recognition for the hard work in making an important film like this,” he wrote. “We won the categories for Best Sound, Best Cinematography and Best Costume.”
With recognitions like this, Zuma International Film Festival, through its lineup of events and awards continues to recognise cinematic excellence within and outside Nigeria.
