Ahead of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, the Television Academy has unveiled this year’s nominations, with The Pitt leading the field with 25 nods, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The medical drama follows the daily realities of healthcare workers in America through the experiences of frontline staff at a modern hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Close behind The Pitt is Hacks, which earned 24 nominations in the comedy categories. Apple TV+’s Widow’s Bay received 19 nominations, while Pluribus followed with 18. Netflix’s limited series Beef secured 16 nominations.
Other notable contenders include HBO Max’s DTF St. Louis with 13 nominations and Prime Video’s Spider-Noir with 11. HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Apple TV+’s Shrinking and Slow Horses each picked up nine nominations.

Among streaming platforms and studios, HBO Max led the overall tally with 122 nominations across its programmes. Netflix followed with 111, while Apple TV+ finished third with 89 nominations.
Although The Pitt tops this year’s field, its 25 nominations fall just short of the 27 secured by Severance, which led the 2025 Emmy nominations.
Final-round voting is scheduled to begin on August 17, while winners will be announced at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14, 2026, with Mariska Hargitay set to host the ceremony.
The complete list of nominees is available on the Television Academy’s official website.
