TheatreMania Africa Summit 2024 to Spotlight Innovation in African Theatre

The TheatreMania Africa Summit (TAS) 2024 will take place on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Shodex Gardens, Ilupeju, Lagos.
The summit will bring together stakeholders in the theatre and creative arts sectors to discuss the evolution of African theatre through technology and innovation. This year’s event serves as a precursor to the TheatreMania Africa Festival (TAF) and Awards, scheduled for Lagos in 2025.
The summit, themed “The Future of Theatre: Embracing Innovation and Technology in Theatre Productions,”aims to explore how traditional storytelling can adapt to modern technologies without losing its cultural essence. Participants will include theatre production companies, guilds, writers, producers, festival organizers, and students from across Nigeria and beyond.
According to Alayande Stephen T., CEO and Co-Founder of TheatreMania Africa Festival, the summit is an opportunity to highlight the transformative potential of technology for African theatre. He noted, “TAS 2024 will showcase how technology can propel African theatre to a global standard. It is indeed from tradition to transformation, echoing innovation at the heart of African theatre.”
A host of renowned speakers and panelists is confirmed for the event, including veteran actors Norbert Young and Dr. Akin Lewis, South African actress Thandekile Maseko, and Segun Adefila of Crown Troupe of Africa. Others include Dr. Tunji Sotimirin, Julius Olaolu Oyekanmi, Zani Challe, Lydia Hagan, Kemi Otekaiye-Colloraffi, and Joseph Edgar, among others.
The event will feature the unveiling of the TheatreMania Africa Festival 2025 emblem and details about the festival, which promises to elevate African theatre on a global scale. Attendees will also benefit from health-focused initiatives in partnership with Platos Health, including body composition assessments and consultancy services.
