After months of anticipation, Netflix’s smash hit “Wednesday” has officially wrapped filming for its second season. Production, which began in Ireland in May 2024, concluded on November 30 in the same location. The new season, consisting of eight episodes, is set to premiere in 2025.

Jenna Ortega returns as the iconic Wednesday Addams, joined by familiar faces like Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Jamie McShane, Joy Sunday, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo.

Season 2 will also introduce an array of star-studded new cast members, including Academy Award winner Lady Gaga, whose song “Bloody Mary” gained viral fame due to the “Wednesday Dance” phenomenon on TikTok. While her role remains under wraps, the cast also includes Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, Joanna Lumley, Thandie Newton, and Christopher Lloyd, among others.

Tim Burton returns as executive producer and director for four episodes, with Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson helming the remainder.

The first season of “Wednesday”, based on “The Addams Family”, premiered on November 23, 2022, and followed the titular character’s teenage adventures at Nevermore Academy, a school for “outcasts.” The series blended humor, horror, and mystery as Wednesday investigated eerie events and murders in her new surroundings.

The debut season was a runaway success, holding the record for the most hours viewed in a week for an English-language Netflix series with 341 million hours in its first week. It earned four Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. Jenna Ortega’s portrayal of Wednesday catapulted her to international stardom, earning her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Best Lead Actress.

With its unique mix of Gothic charm, dark humor, and heartfelt storytelling, “Wednesday” Season 2 is set to captivate audiences once more.
