Tiwa Savage has launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, announcing a partnership with Berklee College of Music aimed at expanding access to music education in Nigeria.
The foundation’s inaugural project, titled Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program, will bring Berklee faculty to Lagos from April 23–26, 2026, for a four-day training session involving 100 emerging music creators. According to organisers, it marks the college’s first official event in West Africa.
The program will cover music production, songwriting, sound engineering, harmony, ear training, publishing, copyright and entertainment law, and will conclude with live ensemble performances. Selected participants may be considered for scholarships to study at Berklee’s Boston campus or through its online programmes.
In an interview with CNN, Savage said the foundation was informed by her own experience studying at Berklee, noting that tuition at leading international music institutions can range between $40,000 and $60,000 annually, excluding living expenses. The Lagos intensive will be fully funded.
Savage previously attended Berklee on scholarship, an experience she has credited with shaping her understanding of the global music business.
Beyond performers, the foundation says its programming will extend to producers, composers, engineers and music business professionals. Longer-term plans include awarding scholarships for Nigerian students to study at Berklee and establishing a permanent music school in Nigeria.
Applications for the Lagos intensive opened on February 24 and close on March 20, 2026.
