Actress, producer and director Uru Eke has opened up about the demands of juggling multiple roles to bring her latest film, The Executive’s Secret, to life.
The romantic drama, which premiered on Lavender Productions Films’ YouTube channel in June, sees Eke star in the lead role while also serving as producer and director. Although it is not her first production for the platform, she says it marks her first venture into this particular thematic space.
Speaking with The Nollywood Reporter (TNR), Eke explains that acting has always been the foundation of her career, while producing became a natural extension of her creative journey.

“Acting came first. I am first and foremost an actor. Producing sort of found a way. Wearing both hats kind of feels comfortable now, but it’s always acting that comes first.”
For her latest role, Eke says she was drawn to the complexity of a woman who seemingly had everything but lost it all in pursuit of having more.
“I think I wanted to play something that has just a little bit of a resistance. As an actor, you need to be versatile and turn into any type of mold. Also the character was fun to portray.”

Balancing acting, producing and directing, however, proved to be the biggest challenge during production. According to Eke, moving between creative and technical responsibilities while staying emotionally present as an actor demanded constant focus.
“Being an actor, producing and directing, wearing those three hats was probably the most challenging part of the production. But I thoroughly enjoyed what I do which comes naturally to me and I just love the process.”
Despite the demands, Eke describes The Executive’s Secret as a gripping romantic drama with unexpected twists.

“It is titillating, an interesting watch with a twist. I’m really proud of the work I do and the hats I wear to make what I love.”
The Executive’s Secret also stars Eronini Osinachi, Michael Udeoji, Kanyinsola Oluwole and Chima Owuama.
