The 10th annual Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) is rapidly approaching, and fans across the continent are making their voices heard in the annual celebration of African cinema and television.

Viewers have until April 28 to cast up to 100 votes per voting platform for their preferred nominees.

Online voting opened after nominees were unveiled for the 2024 AMVCAs, which will be held on May 11 at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria. Audiences can vote for their favorite actors, shows, movies and talents across nine categories open to public voting:

  • Best Digital Content
  • Best Indigenous Language (West Africa)
  • Best Scripted M-Net Original
  • Best Unscripted M-Net Original
  • Best Indigenous Language (East Africa)
  • Best Indigenous Language (Southern Africa)
  • Best Multichoice Talent Factory Movie
  • Best Indigenous M-Net Original
  • Best Short Film

To participate, fans can visit www.africamagic.tv/amvca, sign in or register for a new account. New voters will receive a One-Time Pin (OTP) via email or SMS that must be entered to verify their registration. Once logged in, they can select their choices and finalize their votes. While website votes are free, data costs may apply.

The remaining 16 categories, including marquee awards like Best Movie and Best Actor/Actress, will be decided by a jury of industry professionals headed by veteran filmmaker Femi Odugbemi. Auditing firm Deloitte will verify the voting results.

This year’s AMVCAs have been streamlined to 27 total categories, down from 33 in previous editions. Two special Recognition Awards for Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer will also be presented.

As the preeminent celebration of African film and TV, the AMVCAs represent the public’s final chance to champion their favorite titles before the glitzy ceremony on May 11. Fans are encouraged to vote their preferred nominees on or before the April 28 deadline.
