Wumi Toriola Set to Release First Cinema Film ”Queen Lateefah”

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Wumi Toriola has announced her first cinema release, “Queen Lateefah,” marking a significant milestone in her career. The announcement, made via her Instagram has generated considerable excitement within the Nollywood community.
“Unveiling the brilliant minds and hearts that breathe life into #QUEENLATEEFAH,” Toriola wrote in her post. “Together we embark on a collective journey of artistry and emotion, getting set to ignite the big screen with our shared emotion and creativity. Anticipate #QUEENLATEEFAH the movie of the year.”
Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, also known as Captain Degzy, who helmed 2023’s highest-grossing Nollywood film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” the upcoming film promises to be a significant entry in the industry. The cast includes renowned actors Kunle Remi, Femi Adebayo, Nancy Isime, Bimbo Manuel, Elvina Ibru, Enioluwa, and Gbugbemi Ejeye.
“Queen Lateefah” will be a collaborative production between Wumi Toriola Productions and Captain of the Sea Productions, with Toriola and Ope Ajayi serving as executive producers, and Judith Audu-Foght credited as a producer. Despite the high anticipation, specific details about the film’s plot and release date remain undisclosed.
Toriola, who began her acting career in 2019 with the film “Odunfa Caucus” and produced her first movie “Ajewunmi” in 2015, has received accolades such as the Fastest Rising Actress (Yoruba) award at the City People Entertainment Awards. Her notable filmography includes titles like “Battle on Buka Street,” “Alakada Reloaded,” “Aburo,” and “Ada Omo Daddy.”
