Nigerian producer Young John has finally released the music video for his hit record, “Stronger,” and it’s quickly racking up views.
Released on September 6—nearly five months after the audio premiered as part of his debut album, “Jiggy Forever”—the video hit the 500,000 view mark within 48 hours of its release.
The achievement further strengthens Young John’s impressive YouTube presence, propelling his combined views to just over 134 million as of the time of writing.
Directed by Perlinks, the four-minute video continues the narrative of the audio as a tribute to Young John’s late mother, Pastor Mrs. Comfort Udomboso, who passed away in March 2018.
Featuring actor Chuks Joseph (“Dark October,” 2023), the video shows Young John pouring his heart out with lyrics like, “Mummy, can you see me now? / Water pour down for my eyes / Many many times I dey miss you.”
Unlike his usual upbeat, flashy visuals, “Stronger” reveals a more vulnerable side of the artist, blending soothing banjo strings, catchy beats, and a sprinkle of Amapiano.
Despite its impressive viewership in the first two days, “Stronger” still has a long way to go before catching up to Young John’s most-watched music video, “Xtra Cool,” which boasts 25 million views. However, it may stand a chance at becoming the top contender from his debut album, “Jiggy Forever,” potentially surpassing “Aquafina,” which currently sits at 9.5 million views.
