Idris Elba’s “Dust to Dreams” and Akinola Davies Jr.’s “My Father’s Shadow” will make their European premieres in London this October.
Idris Elba’s directorial debut Dust to Dreams and Akinola Davies Jr.’s My Father’s Shadow have been selected for the 2025 BFI London Film Festival (LFF), where they will both make their European premieres.
The festival will run from October 8 to 19, featuring global titles across competition and special programs.

Produced by EbonyLife Media, Dust to Dreams stars Eku Edewor and is set against the backdrop of a Lagos nightclub. The film, which explores the healing power of music, was first announced by EbonyLife CEO Mo Abudu following a recent BFI press event in London.
Davies Jr., who premiered My Father’s Shadow at Cannes earlier this year, confirmed the film’s LFF selection on Instagram. The title has also been nominated for the festival’s First Feature Competition.

The two Nigerian projects will screen alongside other international titles such as Hamnet, It Was Just an Accident, No Other Choice, Die My Love, Bad Apples, Frankenstein, The Secret Agent, and 100 Nights of Hero.
