Following her recent unveiling, Sharon Rotimi has spoken about stepping into the role of Tumininu “Tumi” Kuti in Wura, a popular TV series led by Scarlet Gomez.
Rotimi replaces Martha Ehinome, who portrayed the character across the show’s first three seasons. As season four begins, she takes on Tumi’s arc, defined by resilience and her ongoing rivalry with the show’s titular character, Wura.
In an interview with The Nollywood Reporter, Rotimi described taking on the role as a full-circle moment, having previously followed the show as a fan.
“I was probably one of the first few people to create a buzz on Twitter when it started. You’ll find a thread of all my tweets if you search #WuraShowmax on my timeline. So, to transition from fan to cast really is an honour,” she said.
Reflecting on her growth, the actress noted that the experience has strengthened her adaptability. “I’m still learning a lot on this journey, but so far, I believe it has helped improve my malleability,” she added.

Rotimi emphasised that her approach to the role is not to replicate her predecessor’s performance but to bring her own interpretation while respecting the character’s foundation. “I can only put my own spin and bring my uniqueness, and I can only hope that that’s enough,” she said.
Speaking on the challenges of portraying Tumi, Rotimi said the role tested her both professionally and personally, while also offering moments of self-discovery.
She acknowledged the expectations that come with taking over a fan-favourite character, admitting she initially hesitated. “I didn’t want to do it at first because I knew the kind of blowback to expect, but if it wasn’t me, it would be someone else,” she said.
Despite this, she remains focused on delivering an honest performance. “It’ll take time for people to adjust to a new face and voice, but I hope to prove myself as we go along,” she added.
