After nine weeks in Nigerian cinemas, James Gunn’s Superman has reached a cumulative gross of ₦480 million, edging closer to the ₦500 million milestone despite slowing attendance.
The film earned ₦5.6 million in its eighth weekend, a 37 percent drop from the ₦7.6 million recorded the previous week. According to the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), it grossed ₦9.4 million in its ninth week.
If it crosses the half-a-billion mark, Superman will become the second film this year to do so, following Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which closed with ₦775.8 million — the third highest-grossing foreign title in Nigeria and the country’s biggest R-rated horror.
With the film now available digitally, cinema turnout has slowed. Still, a ₦500 million finish remains within reach if it holds through its final weeks on the big screen.
Released on July 11, 2025, Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Kal-El, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Rachael Brosnahan as Lois Lane, alongside Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, and Isabella Merced as Hawkgirl.
