The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) has announced an open call for submissions for its 13th annual edition taking place Nov. 3 to Nov. 9, 2024, in Nigeria.
Themed “Indigenous to Global: Cultural Wealth to Global Prosperity,” the festival celebrates creativity in African storytelling from filmmakers across the continent and diaspora. Entries will compete for AFRIFF Awards across categories like features, documentaries, animation, directing, acting, screenwriting and special jury and audience prizes.
Founded in 2010, AFRIFF has grown into the largest annual gathering for African cinema, providing a platform for showcasing indigenous stories to global audiences.
Submission requirements and guidelines are as follows:
- All entries must be submitted online via FilmFreeway.com
- Foreign language films must include English subtitles
- Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee, with official selections announced in October
- Selected films will be screened at the November festival, with jury awards presented at a closing ceremony
The final deadline for AFRIFF 2024 submissions is Aug. 31, 2024. Additional information can be found at afriff.com or by emailing programmes@afriff.com.
With its “Indigenous to Global” theme, the upcoming 13th edition aims to highlight how African cultural narratives resonate beyond borders and build prosperity through the art of storytelling on an international scale.
