Funke Akindele’s “Everybody Loves Jenifa” has reached an impressive milestone, grossing ₦1.71 billion at the Nigerian box office.

Despite being in its fifth weekend, the comedy-drama topped the charts from January 17-19, earning an additional ₦53 million.

According to data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria and Nigerian Box Office on X, this figure surpasses the combined earnings of “Mufasa: The Lion King” (₦22.8 million) and “Den of Thieves 2” (₦22.4 million) over the same period.

With total admissions reaching 333,652 tickets as of January 19, “Everybody Loves Jenifa” is now the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time, outperforming its closest rival, “A Tribe Called Judah”, by ₦300 million.

Industry analysts speculate that the film may become the first Nigerian movie to surpass ₦2 billion at the box office, a feat that would solidify its legacy. For context, “A Tribe Called Judah” reached ₦1.4 billion in 10 weeks, a milestone Akindele’s new movie achieved in just six.

Funke Akindele’s works dominate the Top Five on Nollywood’s all-time highest-grossing list, showcasing her unmatched influence in the industry.
