Nigerian producer Josh Olaoluwa has reflected on the selection of One Woman, One Bra for the 2026 Tribeca Festival, where the film will make its North American premiere.

The film is one of two Nigerian projects screening at the festival, which runs from June 3 to 14, 2026, in New York City. It has been selected for the Viewpoints section, which highlights films by directors pushing creative and formal boundaries.

Written and directed by Vincho Nchogu, the film follows Star, a young woman living in a rural Kenyan village who begins a search for identity after discovering her childhood image on a book cover. The film stars Sarah Karei, Amos Leuka, Irungu Mutu, and Norng’aruani Kipuker.

One Woman, One Bra arrives at Tribeca following a strong international festival run. It premiered at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival under the Biennale College Cinema section and went on to win the Sutherland Award for Best First Feature at the BFI London Film Festival.

Olaoluwa described the Tribeca selection as a significant milestone for the project.

“It’s such an honour to play at Tribeca after an incredible run that’s seen us premiere at Venice and win the Sutherland Award at the BFI London Film Festival, among other places we’ve screened,” he said.

He added that the recognition reflects the effort of the cast and crew behind the film.

“A lot of talented cast and crew worked on this film, and it’s a reward for all our hard work to see it go this far,” he said. “Vincho wrote an incredible story, and this recognition is proof that our stories will always transcend borders and compete on the biggest stages.”

Also screening in the Viewpoints section is Crocodile, a Pan-African documentary co-directed by Pietra Brettkelly and The Critics. The film, produced between New Zealand and Nigeria, was filmed in Kaduna over 13 years and premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year.
