Move To the Beat with Ayra Starr’s New Single “Sability”

The sabi girl herself, Ayra Starr is back on the music scene with her first official single of 2023. After the success of last year’s monster hit Rush, Ayra released Sability on February 10 and we at TNR must say, she has hacked the code of the Afrobeats genre.

Sability samples the legendary Awilo Longomba’s song “Gate le Coin” while infusing its own bouncy, heavy-duty percussion drums to create the perfect Afrobeats tune of 2023. Ayra’s strong vocals glide on the beat and her braggadocious lyrics prove that she’s the queen of the sability movement.

In the single, Arya Starr asserts herself as a strong force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian music industry. She cheekily tells her haters (they are plenty) that “you no go fit in my shoes/ high fashion Jimmy Choos” and waves them off with a not-so-subtle reminder that she’s still leading the pack, and you should follow.

While asserting her dominance, she reminds everyone to just “get dem falling yakata,” have a good time, and dance. Once the beat drops to “Sabi o/ ooo,” you’re bound to forget all your problems and get lost in the music.

Afrobeats has been killing it on the international scene for years now and with this strong single from Ayra, we wouldn’t be surprised if the song makes it all the way to the Billboard Hot 100. Yes, the song is that good and the production is spectacular!
