With its Rotten Tomatoes scores ranging from 96% to 99%, The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, has become the filmmaker’s highest-rated film overtaking The Dark Knight and Memento, both holding a 94% score on the platform.
According to Cosmic Book News, The Odyssey Tomatometer first debuted at 98%, then rose to 99% before it finally settled for 96% across 276 reviews, remaining the best-rated film of Nolan’s career.
Based on Odysseus’ perilous journey home after the Trojan war to reunite with his wife Penelope, Nolan’s The Odyssey stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal amongst others.
Following its recent Tomatometer score, The Odyssey also surpasses Nolan’s Oppenheimer (2023) 93% score, including the renowned director’s Dunkirk and Insomnia at 92%. Inception comes next in line at 91%.
By and large, The Odyssey’s Tomatometer score contributes to the buzz around the film, leading its $264.1 million opening weekend worldwide. It currently stands as the opening for Christopher Nolan, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises.
Made with a $250 million budget, the film also stands as the biggest opening for an R-rated film ever and the biggest opening for a live-action film in 2026.
