Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest collaboration with Paul Thomas Anderson earns $11.1 million in its second weekend, holding steady as Taylor Swift’s event film dominates.
DiCaprio’s “One Battle After Another” Holds Strong Despite Taylor Swift’s Box Office Takeover
Leonardo DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another is maintaining its footing at the U.S. box office despite competition from Taylor Swift’s The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, which dominated screens over the weekend.
The political action-thriller, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, grossed $11.1 million in its second weekend in North America—a 49.5 percent drop from its $22.4 million debut. Internationally, the R-rated feature added $21.7 million across 71 markets, representing a modest 16.9 percent decline.
Meanwhile, Swift’s concert film, inspired by her new album The Life of a Showgirl, opened to $33 million domestically, topping the North American box office and limiting DiCaprio’s potential gains.

Still, One Battle After Another continues to post strong results for Anderson. Its opening marked the filmmaker’s best career debut, and with a current total of $42.7 million domestically and $59 million internationally, the film has reached $101.7 million worldwide—surpassing 2007’s There Will Be Blood as Anderson’s top-grossing title.
Despite the strong showing, analysts such as Luiz Fernando projects the film will end its run around $215 million globally. With a reported $135 million production budget, profitability may depend on long-term international performance and eventual digital revenue.
