To Adaego with Love, a cross-cultural romance, drew a notably large audience at its recent screenings in Kaduna, signaling renewed interest in the city’s struggling cinema culture.
The film follows a young Northern Nigerian soldier and Adaego, an Igbo NYSC corps member serving in the North, whose budding romance faces parental resistance and cultural tension. Its open-ended conclusion has prompted calls for a sequel from viewers.
Adam Garba, who stars as the Northern soldier, was present at the screenings and interacted with fans in both Hausa and English, taking photos and engaging directly with the audience. His presence was credited with boosting turnout.
Sharon, an attendee, told The Nollywood Reporter: “If more actors accompany their movies to the cinema, it will revive the culture in Kaduna State.”

Other notable actors, including Amal Umar and Kannywood stars, were also present and praised Garba’s performance. Critics and audience members commended his authentic portrayal, noting his seamless transition between Nollywood and Kannywood styles.
While some debate over elements of the storyline emerged, attendees largely agreed on one point: they want a continuation of the story.
The film’s reception suggests that Kaduna audiences are still responsive to theatrical experiences when supported by strong performances and active engagement from cast members. To Adaego with Love may therefore mark a step toward reinvigorating cinema-going in the city.
