Tell It No More examines love, infidelity, and the societal pressure placed on women to preserve their marriages regardless of the personal cost. For actress and producer Wumi Tuase-Fosudo, the short film grew out of questions she began asking after getting married herself.
Following its release on YouTube in May, the film has amassed more than 80,000 views after beginning its festival run earlier in 2025 with screenings at Film in the Park, The Annual Film Mischief, Lagos Fringe Festival, and the Ibadan Indie Film Festival. The team has described the project as a collaborative effort and expressed gratitude to the friends who supported its vision.
In an exclusive interview with The Nollywood Reporter (TNR), Tuase-Fosudo says the idea stemmed from reflecting on the advice young women are often given before marriage, particularly the expectation that wives must remain endlessly patient, forgiving, and accommodating.
She began questioning what society really means when it tells women to “be patient” or “protect their marriage,” and when protecting a marriage quietly becomes about protecting someone else’s faults while enduring emotional pain.
Although the idea emerged during the early days of her own marriage, Tuase-Fosudo stresses that Tell It No More is not a reflection of her relationship. Instead, she says it is an observation of the expectations placed on women and an invitation to question long-held beliefs.
“There is also this idea that women must preserve their marriages at all costs, even if that means accepting pain, silence or betrayal. As a feminist, I need to question those ideals.
“It’s about questioning why the burden of preserving a marriage is often placed on women and why endurance is presented as the highest form of love.”
She adds that the film is not telling women how to respond to infidelity or suggesting that every marriage should end because of it. Rather, she hopes it encourages audiences to examine the advice often passed down as wisdom and ask whether it sometimes teaches women to tolerate deeply hurtful behavior.
Since arriving on YouTube, Tuase-Fosudo says she has been encouraged by the conversations the film has sparked, describing the response as a pleasant surprise.
She hopes viewers leave with a renewed understanding of what healthy marriages should look like, what forgiveness truly means, and whether preserving a marriage should require one partner to silently carry the weight of the other’s actions.
Above all, she believes marriage should be built on honesty, accountability, communication, and conscious choice.
Working with her husband, Temilolu Fosudo, who wrote the screenplay, came with creative disagreements, but Tuase-Fosudo says those conversations ultimately strengthened the story.
According to her, he understood aspects of the idea she had not yet found the words to express and was willing to set aside his perspective to serve the film’s broader message. Letting go of complete control over the story allowed it to grow beyond her initial idea into something they built together.
Asked what she hopes women take away from the film, Tuase-Fosudo says she wants them to understand that preserving a marriage should never come at the cost of losing themselves.
“I want women, especially married women, to understand that being a good wife does not mean abandoning yourself or accepting anything in the name of preserving a marriage.
“You can love someone deeply and still have boundaries. You can believe in your marriage and still value honesty, accountability, and your own well-being.
“I hope women feel empowered to have honest conversations about the kind of marriage they want to build, rather than simply accepting the kind of marriage they have been told they must endure.”

The short film is currently streaming on YouTube after its festival run across several Nigerian film events, where it has attracted more than 80,000 views.
