Genoveva Umeh Plays Passionate Coach in Netflix’s “Soccer Season Playmaker”

Netflix is set to debut “Soccer Season Playmaker”, a coming-of-age sports drama from South Africa, on May 16.
Directed by Stephina Zwane (“Baby Mamas,” “The Brave Ones”), the film tells the story of Lunga, a shy but gifted teenage footballer navigating bullying and the weight of family expectations while striving to become a star player for the Soweto Kickers.
The drama explores themes of passion, teamwork, and the pursuit of dreams, both on and off the field.
The screenplay is written by Prudence Thabethe and produced by Azania Productions.
“Soccer Season Playmaker” features an ensemble cast including Desmond Dube, Makgano Mamabolo, Joey Rasdien, and Nigerian-British actress Genoveva Umeh, who plays a driven coach guiding the young team through challenges on their path to success.
