TellThatStory, a community for creatives, collaborating with Storymi Academy, will screen Isaac Ayodele’s The Journalist Who Never Came Home and Olayinka Eno Babalola’s A King Displaced on April 30 in Benin, Edo State.
Both documentary projects, selected for the upcoming screening, emerged from the Storymi Academy’s 2025 Documentary Film Fellowship, which makes Ayodele and Babalola fellows of the program.
The Journalist Who Never Came Home tells the story of a mother and father who struggle to move on after the Nigerian Government refuses their questions about their Journalist son, who was killed in the 2020 EndSARS protest.
While A King Displaced, Babalola looks at the real life of Hungbeji, a fisherman by trade, and one of the traditional rulers in Makoko. The documentary interrogates whether he can truly face what the future holds for him and his community, and still protect his legacy in the end?
With its upcoming collaborative screening, TellThatStory promises moments of connection, introspection and thought-provoking conversations sparked by the depth of each selected documentary.
