The Nigerian International Film Summit (NIFS), in collaboration with Trino Motion Pictures, has launched the International Sales and Distribution Executives (ISDE) programme.
The initiative is designed to address the growing need for specialized training in international sales, aggregation, licensing, and distribution within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Despite producing high-quality content, many Nigerian creatives have struggled to navigate the complexities of global distribution. The ISDE programme seeks to equip professionals with the necessary skills to effectively market and monetize their work on the international stage.
The inaugural cohort consists of 12 participants who were selected for their experience and potential in the industry. Over the course of six months, they will undergo a comprehensive training program that combines both virtual and physical classes, led by international experts with over 15 years of experience in sales and distribution.
The programme will cover a wide range of content types, including scripted and unscripted formats, documentaries, and TV shows. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend local and international film markets and festivals, gaining valuable industry exposure.
According to Uche Okocha, Managing Director of Trino Motion Pictures, the programme was developed in response to a noticeable gap in structured training for sales and distribution professionals in Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of building capacity and creating sustainable opportunities for professionals in the industry.
The training will also include mentorship from international executives, with a focus on establishing connections and expanding the global reach of Nigerian content. Organizers have expressed plans to expand the programme in future editions, potentially increasing the number of participants to continue supporting the growth of the industry.
