Hollywood star Michael B. Jordan is stepping back from his lead role as the famed boxer Donnie in the “Creed” franchise; this time, he’ll serve as an executive producer for a new series titled “Delphi.”
Set in the world of the “Creed” franchise, the series will premiere on Prime Video and focus on the young athletes training at the iconic gym where Donnie once honed his skills. With dreams of achieving greatness like Donnie, these aspiring fighters will push themselves to the limit in pursuit of their full potential.
Also on board as executive producer and showrunner is Tony Award nominee Marco Ramirez. Jordan’s production company, Outlier Society, has been commissioned to produce the series.
The “Creed” franchise—which includes three films (“Creed,” “Creed II, “Creed III”)—has grossed over $660 million worldwide at the box office, making it one of the most successful sports film franchises in history. As an offshoot of the “Rocky” franchise, the films have become a staple in pop culture, inspiring merchandise, video games, and other media.
In addition to “Delphi,” a fourth “Creed” film is already in the works, along with various other projects aimed at expanding the franchise even further.
As of the time of this publication, no official release date has been announced for “Delphi.”
Jordan’s involvement in the upcoming series comes straight off the phenomenal success of the horror epic “Sinners”, which has grossed $284.7 million at the worldwide box office.
