Dammy Twitch’s Call of My Life has been selected for the 2026 BlackStar Film Festival, joining four other Nigerian films in this year’s lineup.
The romantic comedy is joined by Chiemeka Offor’s Nwanne M Nwaanyị, Iyabo Kwayana’s Old Man River, which will have its world premiere at the festival, Precious Wura Alabi’s To Run Is to Return, and Lade Tinubu’s Voicemail.
Call of My Life follows Soluchi, played by Uzoamaka Power, a hopeless romantic still recovering from heartbreak after being jilted by her former lover, Kalu (Zubby Michael). When a routine work call introduces her to the charming Eli (Andrew Yaw Bunting), she begins to believe in the possibility of finding love again.
The selection adds to the film’s successful run following its commercial performance at the West African box office. Call of My Life has grossed more than ₦700 million, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2026 and the first Nigerian film released outside the December holiday season to surpass ₦600 million.
The 2026 BlackStar Film Festival will run from Aug. 6 to 9 in Philadelphia, showcasing 91 films from more than 30 countries. The program also includes panel discussions, concerts, and community events as the festival marks its 15th anniversary.
