Nigeria, Brazil Strengthen Creative Industry Ties With Strategic Lagos Visit
Nigeria and Brazil have taken steps to strengthen cross-continental collaboration in the creative sector following a high-level visit by Brazilian officials and cultural leaders to Lagos on June 25, 2025.
The engagement, hosted by Filmhouse Group in partnership with the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria, was part of a broader cultural and economic initiative aimed at boosting cooperation in film, music, and the arts.
Held at Filmhouse Cinemas – IMAX, Lekki, the visit included delegates from Brazil’s Ministry of Culture and creative industry leaders who met with Nigerian stakeholders. The discussions highlighted areas for collaboration, including co-production, distribution, and investment.

The delegation also participated in cultural activities across Lagos, including visits to the Oba of Oniru’s Palace, the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Terra Kulture, and the Lekki Arts and Crafts Market.
Speaking at the event, Kene Okwuosa, Group CEO of Filmhouse Group, described the engagement as a starting point for deeper cooperation. “Nigeria and Brazil are cultural siblings with shared roots and creative energies,” he said. “We are committed to building lasting partnerships that expand opportunities across both markets.”

George Maha of ApexBrasil noted the personal and historical significance of the visit, referencing shared heritage between Nigeria and Brazil’s Afro-descendant communities. Rachel Maia, CEO of RM Cia 360, also expressed interest in future collaborations, citing mutual respect for creative quality and potential.
The initiative is expected to lead to joint projects in content creation, talent exchange, and investment, further positioning Lagos as a regional centre for creative industry development.
