Adeoluwa Owu’s psychological drama, The Benefactor, opened to a strong start at the Nigerian box office, closing its debut week with a cumulative ₦19.27 million.
The film, which premiered on August 8, reunites writer Temilolu Fosudo and Owu after their acclaimed collaboration on The Griot.
According to official box office data, the film earned ₦3.02 million on its first day, ₦3.77 million on day two, and ₦6.46 million on day three, bringing its opening weekend total to ₦13.26 million. Momentum held through the week, with daily earnings pushing the first-week total to just under ₦20 million.
Starring Bimbo Manuel, Akin Lewis, Kunle Remi, Tobi Makinde, and Joke Muyiwa, The Benefactor follows the story of Tuntunlade, a rising star forced to confront a web of power and loyalty when a man from her past resurfaces with a life-altering demand.
