Damson Idris Honored at Critics Choice Celebration of Black Cinema & Television
Actor Damson Idris will be honored with the Supporting Actor Award – Film for his performance in F1: The Movie at the Critics Choice Association’s 8th Annual Celebration of Black Cinema & Television, taking place on December 9 in Los Angeles.
Produced by Madelyn Hammond and Javier Infante of Hammond Infante Production, the event celebrates outstanding achievements across the Black entertainment industry.
Idris, who first gained prominence with his acclaimed role in FX’s Snowfall, stars in Apple Original Films’ F1: The Movie, which has become the highest-grossing auto racing film and Apple Studios’ most successful release to date.
The evening will also recognize a range of industry figures, including Spike Lee, recipient of the Career Achievement Award, and Ryan Coogler, who will receive the Director Award for his film Sinners. Other honorees include Sterling K. Brown, Tessa Thompson, Jurnee Smollett, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, David Alan Grier, Janelle James, and several rising stars.
Comedian Jay Pharoah will return as host, with Starz serving as the official media partner. The ceremony will air and stream exclusively on the platform in early 2026.
For Idris, the recognition adds to his growing list of accomplishments, reaffirming his position as one of the most compelling actors of his generation.
