Nigerian feature films, “Mojisola” and “This Is Lagos,” have earned spots in the prestigious Pan African Film Festival (PAFF), which holds in Los Angeles, California from Feb. 6 -19, 2024. The festival, which is a vibrant celebration of black film, art, and culture, will showcase over 140 films, along with engaging Q&A sessions and discussions.
“This Is Lagos” navigates the journey of Stevo, portrayed by Gabriel Afolayan, a young man pursuing superstardom in the bustling city of Lagos, tackling its challenges and complexities. The cast includes Ikechukwu Onunaku, Rahama Sadau, Kate Henshaw, Enyinna Nwigwe, Sani Muazu, David Jones David, Greg Ojefua, Mike Afolarin, Jibrin Homsuk, and Laura Pepple.

Despite “This Is Lagos” initially being slated for a nationwide premiere in December 2023, the event was canceled with no definitive rescheduling information provided.
On the other hand, “Mojisola” unfolds the tale of a young girl on a quest to save her love while confronting an inexplicable life-threatening illness. Director Kenneth Gyang, returning to the festival a decade after his first feature film was selected in 2014, expressed delight, stating, “In 2014, my debut feature “Confusion Na Wa” was honored with the Jury Prize. A decade later, I am thrilled to return with two new features.”
The selection of these Nigerian films for the 2024 PAFF positions Nigerian cinema on the global stage of black cinema celebration, resonating with diverse stories that reflect the richness of African storytelling.
