Serena Williams, renowned as one of the greatest tennis players in history, is stepping into the seat of executive producer for Netflix’s highly anticipated adaptation series, “Carrie Soto is Back.”
The series is based on the bestselling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid of the same title and will feature Williams behind the scenes.
“Carrie Soto is Back” tells the story of 37-year-old tennis star Carrie Soto who comes out of retirement to defend her Grand Slam title against a talented young rival.

News of Williams’ involvement in the project surfaced on Apr. 15, 2025, marking another step in her post-tennis career within the entertainment industry.
Williams’ first time working as an executive producer was in 2021 with “King Richard,” a biographical film which focused on her father Richard Williams’ pivotal role in her tennis career, and her sister Venus’ journey.
Subsequently, in 2024, she served as executive producer of “In the Arena: Serena Williams”—a docuseries which chronicled her life and career.

For Netflix’s “Carrie Soto is Back,” the tennis legend will work alongside Picturestart and Reid, with Fifth Season and Picturestart co-producing the series.
Amid the growing anticipation, the series is expected to offer a compelling glimpse into the world of elite tennis.
