Following the overwhelming success of the “Beetlejuice” franchise, Warner Bros. is moving forward with the production of a highly-anticipated third film.
The second film—Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice (2024)—helmed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Tim Burton, was a major success for Warner Bros., grossing over $451 million worldwide.
The long-awaited third film might reunite original cast members like Michael Keaton and Catherine O’Hara alongside new acts like Jenna Ortega and Justin Theroux.
In an exclusive interview, Warner Bros. Studio Co-Chairs and CEOs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy confirmed the production of the third installment of “Beetlejuice.”
According to the duo, they are developing sequels to both “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and “A Minecraft Movie.” The latter film is 2025’s unexpected blockbuster, grossing $550.5 million (and counting) at the worldwide box office.
“The ink might not be dry on the deals yet,” De Luca said, suggesting that both films are becoming top-priority franchises for the studio.
“We’re trying to step on the gas. To double, to quadruple that kind of success,” he added.
The enduring popularity of the franchise has secured its place in pop culture, making its continuation a natural progression.
Alongside plans for a third “Beetlejuice” film, Warner Bros. has a lineup of other franchise expansions underway, including Andy Serkis’ “Gollum” film and Amblin Entertainment’s development of a new “Gremlins” film.
