Nigerian actor, writer, and producer Prosper Light, founder of Ogwa Studios and organizer of the annual Games Night with Prosper, is on a mission to transform social gatherings into meaningful spaces that elevate African storytelling and creative collaboration.
In an exclusive interview with The Nollywood Reporter, Light spoke about the inspiration behind Games Night with Prosper, following the recently concluded fourth edition on December 12, 2025.
“We wanted to promote social gatherings among these people. We noticed that a lot of people long for connection but don’t know how or where to connect. We just want to bring people together to have a good time and work together,” he shared.
The We Hid in the Sun actor noted that after the event’s debut in 2023, he and his team discovered that the majority of their community members were creatives. “So we integrated Showcase into our activities. This means that beyond the games and networking, people get to showcase their talents too.”

Despite the popularity of the Games Night, Light admitted that financial constraint remains its biggest challenge, even with his readiness to put in the hard work required. However, he acknowledged the role of collaboration in keeping the initiative consistent. “I have also been able to meet people who are relentless in achieving the goal we have for the movement. So, if we get more funding and collaboration, we can do so much more,” he said.
He further revealed that the Big Screen concept integrated into Games Night with Prosper is the first of its kind, aimed at showcasing Ogwa Studios’ films and educating audiences about stories the team is passionate about. Still reiterating his strong belief in collaboration, the filmmaker is open to accepting films from other young creatives as the initiative expands in the future.
Speaking about his work at Ogwa Studios, Light reite his vision and commitment to telling authentic African stories that not only entertain but also celebrate diversity. “We are very intentional about inclusivity,” he noted. “This goes beyond the cast we use in films to also include crew members.”
Looking ahead with these creative platforms, Light—known for his captivating screen presence and fearless storytelling—plans to continue pushing authentic African narratives that will spark conversations and challenge societal norms.
