“Nigerian Idol” contestant Mikki has made history, becoming the first ever to claim the new Platinum Ticket that propels him straight to the finals of the singing competition show’s ninth season.

The self-described “lover of music 150 million percent” impressed judges Omawumi, Ric Hassani and guest judge Neptune during auditions with a performance that clearly met their high expectations for the coveted fast-track pass.

“I always wanted to motivate people with music because I have the gift and talent to do so,” Mikki said, calling “Nigerian Idol” the “biggest music platform in Nigeria” and a “great dream” to win.

While Mikki is the first Platinum Ticket recipient, the judges were generous in handing out Golden Tickets to other standout auditions, including twin brothers Prosper and Paul, who bounced back from last season to earn individual passes to the main show.

As anticipation builds for the live shows, auditions are ongoing across the country to find more talented vocalists to compete for the “Nigerian Idol” title. Electrifying performances are promised from the diverse pool of contestants vying for the remaining spots.

Fans can follow all the action and latest developments on DSTV channel 198 and GOtv 49 as season 9 shapes up to be one to remember, with Mikki leading the way as the first Platinum performer.
