Nollywood is set to expand its collection of crime thrillers with “Red Circle”, a film that explores the intersection of investigative journalism, organized crime, and corruption in Lagos.
Produced by Rixel Studios and directed by Akay Mason, the film follows journalist Fikayo Holloway as she risks everything to expose a powerful syndicate operating in the shadows of the city.
Folu Storms stars as Holloway, a journalist whose pursuit of the truth entangles her with a wealthy businessman at the center of a vast criminal network. As she digs deeper, she faces increasing threats, forcing her to navigate a path where uncovering the truth could come at the cost of her life.

Director Akay Mason describes the film as more than just a suspenseful thriller. ““Red Circle is a story about truth, power, and the risks of uncovering secrets that some would kill to keep hidden,”” he says.
The film assembles a cast that includes Bukky Wright, Timini Egbuson, Tobi Bakre, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Branch, Omowunmi Dada, Mike Afolarin, Ruggedman, and Debo Macaroni. Written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed (“Brotherhood, Skinny Girl in Transit”), “Red Circle” blends action, high-stakes drama, and emotional depth.
Nora Awolowo, one of the film’s producers, highlights the effort behind its creation. ““This film is our labor of love. We have poured everything into creating an experience that is both thrilling and socially relevant,”” she says.

Set against the backdrop of Lagos, “Red Circle” engages with themes of power, justice, and media ethics.
As global audiences increasingly embrace investigative journalism narratives, the film taps into conversations about corruption, accountability, and the dangers faced by those who seek to reveal the truth.
“Red Circle” is set for a nationwide theatrical release on June 6, 2025.
