Creator and director, British-Nigerian filmmaker Andrew Onwubolu, known as Rapman, has confirmed that filming on the second season of Netflix’s hit series Supacell has officially wrapped.
The announcement came via Instagram, where Rapman shared a photo of himself in an editing suite with a title card for Supacell 2 visible on screen.
“Due to circumstances out of our control we had to pause production for a while. But filming is finally done! I’m currently in the edit getting it ready. It’s coming and I PROMISE it will be worth the wait,” he wrote.
Production on the new season was delayed several times, pushing filming into late 2025 after Rapman first confirmed that work on the series had begun.
According to reports, the second season is expected to be significantly larger in scale than the first, leading to the addition of co-director Koby Adom, known for Top Boy and Noughts + Crosses, who will share directing duties.
The returning cast includes Tosin Cole, Adelayo Adedayo, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Calvin Demba, Josh Tedeku, and Eddie Marsan, alongside new cast members Frank Bourke, Tiana Simone, Richard Keep, and Ed Allenby.
A release date for the second season has not yet been announced by Netflix.
